Down syndrome has affected me in different ways. In my early childhood i have started on neurodevelopmental program. My first developmentalist that I got started with was Bob Doman that I met in my childhood. Then I met Linda Kane.
She was teaching me how to read and she taught me how to creep on the floor laying on my stomach and she taught me how to crawl on the floor by bending my knees and hands on the floor. The next developmentalist that I met was Linda Kane’s son Michael Kane. He also taught how to Read and he also gave some developmental homework to help me develop communication skills in all of developmental program.
In my childhood all of my Brothers and sisters helped me with all my developmental program. One of my brothers taught me how to crawl on the floor, and all three of my sisters helped me with all of my developmental program. I was very good Learner. I have been learning a lot from all of my Brothers and sisters. I am thankful that they have real kind to me and helping me develop like crawling skills and creeping skills and reading skills.
In my childhood, I have been doing a lot of Reading. I have been reading a lot of Science books and I also have Reading a lot of history books. In Homeschool and in my developmental homework I have been doing a lot of Reading. I have been Reading a lot of Biographies about a lot of famous People, and I also have been Reading a lot of classics. A lot of years I have been Reading a lot of Little House on the Prarrie books.
In a lot of years I have been seeing my Brother performing in a lot of plays. Then I got interested in theatre. The Reason I was interested in theatre because I was interested in performing on stage. I was interested in performing in plays.
I have been in a lot childrens plays that my Brother also played in. Then I have been Performing on stage since 2008. I have been in a lot performances with my Brother, like “Robin Hood” and “Magnificent Rainbow Promise” and “Annie with a Bit of a Twist” and “Narnia” and “Urnie” and “Picklers” and “Melvin Met a Morphous” and “Litter Did They Know.” When I first got started performing in theatre my Directors had been teaching me how to cheat out and they were teaching me to use eye contact in a conversations and they were teaching me to slow down with my Lines in all my Rehearsals. I have been also taking Drama classes at Bethel University.
When I first moved to Bethel University I got Really excited that I got excepted into the BUILD Program. I also was excited that I get to live with people that I Know, and I that I get to live in a Dormitory with Roommates. I get to share the space in the dorm Room with my Roommate.
The BUILD Program has been helping me develop independence by Learning how to become independent and Learning how to Live on my own. The Program has also helped me Learn how to find a satisfying job, and how to handle money wisely. I am also Learning how to use social Skills in all of my Classes. I have been getting a lot of homework done in all my of classes. I have been Learning how to Handle money and how to handle discounts in math class. Also, I have been learning a lot about nutrition and phyiscial fitness in Phyiscal Education. I have been Learning a lot about unhealthy Habits and Physical Activity, and about many ways to have fun with hobbies and free time. I have been learning a lot about how to apply for jobs and about how to write Resumes and do job interviews in my jobs and employment class. I am Learning a lot about my disability and about dreams and values in social skills class. I have also been Learning about why is important to give grace and Reading a lot about people in the Old Testament assignments in Bible class.
